Abilities at Work and Social Justice
The Staff and Board members of Abilities at Work acknowledge the recent examples of racial injustice in our country and its impact on our local community and beyond. The news and footage of George Floyd’s death shocked the world, as have other deeply disturbing racist incidents.
We are outraged by these events and recognize their painful impacts, particularly for our Black community members, friends, and family. Black lives matter.
It is the responsibility of our entire community to confront racism in all its forms and to work to change how we approach our understanding of race and racial injustices. Structural racism and discrimination hurts us all, including people with developmental disabilities. Abilities at Work believes in the values of love, hope, peace, unity, diversity, acceptance, solidarity, and change.
